The nominations for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced earlier today in Hollywood. The Big Bang Theory received five nominations at this year's Emmy awards.

The Big Bang Theory received its second consecutive nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. The other shows nominated this year are HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, HBO's Girls, HBO's Veep, NBC's 30 Rock and ABC's Modern Family.

@marg purtell, the previous seasons of The Big Bang Theory are all available on DVD. You should be able to find these at Amazon.ca or in any good video store.

I'm a 79 yr old grandmother--ex nurse--presently campground owner, who until this year considered the cbc news the highlight of my day---not any more. my 2 grandsons, 8 and 12 yrs old ,who have both tested above 99% in Toronto school testing, enjoy it as much as I do and get the subtle humor--thanks. i would appreciate some info on how to get editions of previous episodes. One thing that speaks to the talent shown, is that you don't have to see the episodes chronologically, so don't panic if there are no complete sets--I'll watch anyway--and--no--I do not have Alzheimer,s.

That's quite a good list that Jim is up against. Larry and Louie are both funny, but I am sick of 30 Rock, Alec is only funny in SNL. I think Jim has a good shot at winning. When you think about it, Larry and Louie are playing exaggerations of themselves and Jim is playing an original character. As far as series goes, it should have a shot at winning, but the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Michael J. Fox guest starred was a funny one. The kid who played Ana Gasteyer's son was funny as well. There is only funny person in Modern Family, and is was best as Al Bundy. Everyone in that show was funny.

I pretty much quit watching television after NBC got rid of Conan O'Brien and being a pauper I don't own cable to watch him since he was the only television I considered funny...I watch it until the guest came on and maybe watch if he had some decent music to listen to...by accident I sat on the television remote and turned on your Big Bang Theory...much to my amazement I was amused. I also noticed that Kaley Cuoco the actress playing the character penny look strikingly like the blonde character in the Star Trek episode: You Humans Are Troublesome For Us - YouTube www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQA00tAK8Lc My thought is that the character Sheldon played by actor Jim Parsons play Spock, Johnny Galecki play Kirk and Kunal Nayyar plays the Kelvan leader in a dream that Sheldon or Leonard has after eating the wrong brownie's made by perhaps the father of the Penny character while he is in town for an old Navy buddies funeral type of plot.
