The show's rating were down from the record highs of the previous episode, likely owing to the show's two week absence and the return of American Idol.

"The Cooper/Kripke Inversion" was watched by 17.76 million people, down by 2.24m from the series high of 20m achieved by the previous episode. In the important adults 18-49 demographic, The Big Bang Theory scored a 5.4/16 rating, down a whole point from the 6.4/19 rating on January 10. The Big Bang Theory was first in its time slot in all key rating rankings.
