Seventh Season Premiere Ratings
Last night's hour-long season premiere of The Big Bang Theory dominated its time slot and the night as a whole, ranking as the night's most-watched and highest-rated broadcast. The seventh season opener posted strong gains over the half-hour sixth season premiere a year ago.
"The Hofstadter Insufficiency", the first episode of the night's double bill, was watched by 18.3 million people and scored a 5.3 rating in the key adults 18-49, according to overnight ratings. Compared to the final ratings for the sixth season premiere, The Big Bang Theory was up six tenths in the demo and added 2.64 million viewers.
"The Deception Verification" at 8:30 was watched by 19.50 million viewers, which would place it as the second most-watched episode of The Big Bang Theory ever (behind "The Bakersfield Expedition"), and scored a huge 5.8 rating in the demo.
Throughout the 8 o'clock hour, The Big Bang Theory was way ahead of all other programming. The X Factor on Fox took second place with 6.38 million viewers and a 2.0/6 rating in the demo. The Big Bang Theory had more viewers during the hour than the four other networks combined. The Big Bang Theory is set to be the best performing show of the week in the 18-49 demo.
