Although I absolutely love the show, I find it strange that the majority of the actors on the show are Jewish. It's almost as if they went out of their way to select actors based on their religion and not on talent. I'm sure that during the audition/selection process there were those who were not Jewish that were just as good as the current cast. The actors that play Leonard,Sheldon,Howard, Bernadette, Amy, Leslie, Stuart and more are ALL Jewish. When 90 plus percen of a show is made up of Jewish actors it's NOT a coincidence, it's done on purpose!

I'm glad I'm not the only one troubled by Mrs. Wolowitz' cremation. The producers clearly were interested in mining the comic possibilities of a lost urn of ashes, even if it meant having Howard take actions that he simply WOULD NOT take. Howard has not always been the most observant Jew, but his Jewish identity is clearly important to him. More importantly, it has been established in multiple episodes that Mrs. Wolowitz takes her faith seriously. Here are two examples: In one episode, when Mrs. Wolowitz discovered that Howard had a woman, (Leslie Winkle), in his bed, her only question was, "Is she Jewish?" In another episode when the boys were discussing the possibility of their brains being transferred into android bodies, Howard indicated that if he became a synthetic human, he would have to insure that he was still Jewish, because, "I promised my mother". So, it is clear that Judaism was important to Howard's mother. Yet, in what is essentially the last thing he can ever do for her, (with the exception of saying Kaddish, and lighting yahrzeit candles), he has her remains treated in about the most UN-Jewish way possible. Very disturbing.

I generally love the show and I am a big fan. However with so many Jewish writers I am really disappointed in the recent story line. The writers chose to have Mrs. Wolowitz's remains cremated rather than give her a Jewish funeral or burial. The story of the urn with her cremated ashes in her suitcase really bothered me. I am aware that some modern or Reform Jews are cremated but it is really contrary to Jewish tradition. Even though Howard has made it clear that he is not ritually observant and does not keep kosher, a defining element for the majority of Jews is that they bury their deceased loved ones, not cremate them. I think this story would've been more accurate and meaningful if it had been authentically Jewish. Portraying overbearing Jewish mothers, poking fun at Jewish guilt and Mrs. Wolowitz's over emphasis on food reduces Jews to a caricature that really isn't very accurate, flattering or funny.

I'm a bit disappointed in the writers. As a person devout in the Jewish faith Mrs. Wolowitz would never have been cremated. Cremation is expressly forbidden by Jewish law.

How come there are no Minority Actors on the show? There are Minority Scientists. It's a good show but that one aspect bothers me greatly.
