Big Bang Theory Guest Star Tournament: Result July 23, 2013

The final round of our Big Bang Theory: Guest Star Tournament has now closed and we are able to announce the winner. Nearly 6,000 votes were cast in this tournament and we want to thank everybody who voted.

Laurie Metcalf (Mary Cooper) beat Kevin Sussman (Stuart) to win the tournament with 64.85% of the final vote. The Roseanne and Toy Story actress has so far appeared in four episodes of The Big Bang Theory as Sheldon's religious Texan mother, Mary Cooper. Laurie Metcalf received 980 votes throughout the tournament.

2013 Primetime Emmy Nominations July 18, 2013

2013 Primetime Emmy Nominations

The nominations for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced today in Hollywood. The Big Bang Theory received a total of eight nominations at this year's Emmy awards.

The Big Bang Theory received its third consecutive nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. The other contenders for this year's award are 30 Rock (NBC), Girls (HBO), Louie (FX), Veep (HBO) and last year's winner Modern Family (ABC).

Jim Parsons was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the fifth consecutive time. He won the award in 2010 and 2011. His competitors this year are 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin, Arrested Development's Jason Bateman, Louie's Louis C.K., House of Lies' Don Cheadle and Episodes' Matt LeBlanc.

Mayim Bialik received her second consecutive nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category. The other contenders for the award are Glee's Jane Lynch, Modern Family's Julie Bowen, Nurse Jackie's Merrit Wever, 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski and Veep's Anna Chlumski.

Comedy veteran Bob Newhart was nominated for his guest role on The Big Bang Theory as Professor Proton. This is the seventh Emmy nomination for the stand-up comic and TV actor, famed for his shows The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart, including a 2004 nomination in the same category for his guest appearance on ER.

The Big Bang Theory crew received four nominations for their work. The show was nominated in the "Outstanding Art Direction For a Multi-Camera Series" category, the "Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing For A Comedy Series" category, the "Outstanding Hairstyling For A Multi-Camera Series Or Special" category, and the "Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork,Video Control For A Series" category.

The Emmys will be held Sunday, September 22 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on CBS. How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the ceremony for the second time.

The semi-final round of our Big Bang Theory Guest Star Tournament has now closed. Two guest stars have progressed to the final round and now go head-to-head. Cast your votes in our guest tournament now.

The two guest stars in the final round are: Laurie Metcalf (Mary Cooper) vs. Kevin Sussman (Stuart Bloom). The two stars knocked out in the last round were John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke) and Wil Wheaton (Himself).

Big Bang Theory Guest Star Tournament

We are running a tournament to find the fans' favorite Big Bang Theory guest stars. With memorable guest apperances from Wil Wheaton, Bob Newhart, Leonard Nimoy, Stephen Hawking and many other, along with recurring guest stars including Laurie Metcalf and Christine Baranski, we're interested to see which guest appearances people have enjoyed the most. Head over to the-big-bang-theory.com/guest-star-tournament/ to submit your nominations.

The first round of the tournament is the nominations round. You can nominate up to eight guest stars to advance to the knock-out rounds. Any credited guest star, no matter how famous, is eligible in the tournament. The guest stars don't have to be the biggest names or have had the largest guest parts to be nominated. The nominations round will close in one week and the eight most popular guest stars will then go through to the knock-out rounds.
