Production begins on Season 3 August 7, 2009
Production has begun on the third season of The Big Bang Theory. The first taping will occur next Tuesday, August 11th. The cast had their first table read of the season on Wednesday.
The first episode, set to air September 21st, is titled "The Electric Can Opener Fluctuation". Dave Goetsch, a writer & co-executive producer, posted a picture of script on his Twitter account.
Laurie Metcalf will return as Sheldon's mother in the episode, after the guys return from the Arctic. Leonard and Penny's romance is to progress further this season, it was revealed at Comic-Con.
The cast & crew have been posting lots of information on Twitter. Their profiles are @kunalnayyar, @billprady (co-creator) and @goetech (Dave Goetsch, co-executive producer).
'Theory' and Parsons win TCA Awards August 2, 2009
The Big Bang Theory and Jim Parsons were both given awards by the Television Critics Association at its annual TCA Awards.
The Big Bang Theory was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement in Comedy award. Jim Parsons received the Individual Achievement in Comedy award.

Christine Baranski nominated for an Emmy July 16, 2009
Christine Baranski, of TV's Cybill & last summer's box-office hit Mamma Mia!, was nominated for an Emmy today, for her guest spot as Leonard's mother on The Big Bang Theory.
Baranski will go up against Jennifer Aniston, Tina Fey, Gena Rowlands, Elaine Stritch & Betty White in the Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category.
Jim Parsons nominated for an Emmy July 16, 2009
Jim Parsons nominated for an Emmy in Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category.
Jemaine Clement, Tony Shalhoub, Steve Carell, Alec Baldwin and Charlie Sheen are also in the running for the Emmy. This marks Jim's first nomination & the show's biggest nomination so far.
The show itself didn't receive a nomination in the Best Comedy category.
Emmy nominations out tomorrow July 15, 2009
The nominations for the 61st Primetime Emmy® Awards will be announced tomorrow. The ceremony will be hosted by Jim Parsons, Chandra Wilson of Grey's Anatomy, and Television Academy chairman John Shaffner.
The event will be broadcast live on Emmys.com, it's at 8:35AM New York time (EST), 13:35 London time (BST), and an early 5:35AM in its native Los Angeles time (PST). You can work out the time in your area here.
Jim Parsons is widely expected to be nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category. The show itself might be nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series.

We're running an Episode Tournament, to try find the fans' favorite episode of the show. It opens today, and you can now nominate 8 episodes to go through to the knock-out rounds. Each round will be open for 2 weeks.
