BBT not available online October 16, 2008
At the start of the season we, and many other fans, noticed that The Big Bang Theory could no longer be watched online. It was missing from CBS.com, iTunes & Amazon Unbox, leaving fans unable to watch episodes online that they'd missed. We said that the company responsible for this decision was Warner Bros, and we were right. Variety reports that the reason for this decision is Warner Bros wanting to sweeten future deals with local syndicates.
Episode 2.04 Ratings Update October 14, 2008
As we reported earlier, The Big Bang Theory got higher ratings than How I Met Your Mother last night, now we've got the exact numbers for you.
The Big Bang Theory – Viewers: 9.36 million (#2), A18-49: 3.6/10 (#2)
How I Met Your Mother – Viewers: 9.14 million (#2), A18-49: 3.8/10 (#2)
How I Met Your Mother was more popular with the 18-49 demographic, but they had the same share so this can be explained by the fact there are more 18-49'ers tuning in at 8:30 than 8 o'clock. The Big Bang Theory did get 220,000 more viewers than How I Met Your Mother, at a time when there are fewer viewers about, that is good news.
This is a very big achievement for The Big Bang Theory, beating a show that follows it in a better slot isn't easy. Ratings for The Big Bang Theory did fall when it swapped slots with HIMYM, but now the tables have turned and TBBT is showing its true strength by outshining the show without the advantage of the better slot.
Poll Updates October 14, 2008
We have launched a new feature today, "How The World Voted" shows how different countries voted in polls. We posted a little while ago about how we were working on this feature, it is now complete. Head over to our Poll section to check it out. It is only enabled on certain polls, in some polls the vote is largely unanimous so putting that data up isn't worth it, indicated by the globe symbol next to the poll name.
We have also added a few new polls: Which season is better? Which character would you want in an emergency? The not-so-serious "Which character would you want to be U.S. President?" followed by the ever so slightly more serious "Who should be U.S. President?". Please check the polls out and cast your vote!
