CBS has revealed the details of the fourth episode of The Big Bang Theory entitled The Luminous Fish Effect, Emmy award winning Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) will guest star as Sheldon's mother.
"The Luminous Fish Effect" - When Sheldon gets fired, he explores life beyond physics, but his initial thrill of shopping with Penny devolves over time to him weaving ponchos as a shut-in, forcing Leonard to call on Sheldon's mother, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, Oct. 15 (8:30-9:00 ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The Big Bang Theory dipped only 5% from its premiere and still built on its lead-in How I Met Your Mother.
The show placed CBS' second in the slot with 5.9/9 and 3.4/8 rating with Adults 18-49, it was watched by 8.58 million people.
The show got 13% more viewers 18-49 than How I Met Your Mother.
Episode 1.02 Ratings: First Look October 2, 2007
First indications of the second episode ratings are coming out and look reasonably well.
The Big Bang Theory slipped about 8% from last weeks numbers, while Rules of Engagement slipped a weightier 11%. The show had a 3.4 rating in 18-48 demographic, up from its lead-in (How I Met Your Mother) of 3.2; This placed CBS second for the night.
