CBS Announces Episode 3.06

CBS has announced the details of November 2nd's episode, The Cornhusker Vortex. The episode was produced as the fifth episode of the season, but it will now air as the sixth.

"The Cornhusker Vortex" - Sheldon teaches Leonard how to understand football while a kite-fighting incident threatens Howard and Raj's friendship, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, Nov. 2 (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Episode 3.04 Ratings

The ratings for last night's episode are out. The show again managed to build on its lead-in Two and a Half Men in the 18-49 demographic. Ratings were also higher than last week, but not at the levels seen in the first two weeks of the season.

The Big Bang Theory came second in total viewers with 12.78 million people tuning in. It came first in the adults 18-49 demographic with a 4.8/12 rating, compare to a 4.6/11 for Men.

CBS has announced the details of next week's episode, The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary, in which Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) will appear as himself.

"The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary" - While Sheldon settles a score with his nemesis, Wil Wheaton, Wolowitz begs Leonard to get Penny to set him up with one of her friends, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, Oct. 19 (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This episode was filmed as the sixth episode of the season, but is now airing as the fifth. You can find more information about the episode in our Episode Guide. There will be a re-run the week after this episode (October 26) of The Vartabedian Conundrum.

News in Brief

We've got a couple of brief stories to report.

-CBS hasn't yet announced next week's episode, but it seems it will be the episode in which Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) guests stars. That was originally meant to be sixth episode of the season, but looks to have been switched.

-Season 2 will be released on DVD next Monday in the United Kingdom. You can pre-order it from Amazon.co.uk.

-There will be a rerun on October 26th, the first of the season. You'll be able to see episode 2.10 The Vartabedian Conundrum again.

The ratings for last night's episode are out. The show continued to build on its lead-in Two and a Half Men in the adults 18-49 demographic, but neither show matched their high ratings of the last two weeks.

The Big Bang Theory was watched by 12.25 million people, placing second in viewers. It posted a 4.5/10 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, coming first.

Ratings: The Bang Gets Louder

The final national ratings for Monday have been released. The Big Bang Theory performed even better than first thought. CBS issued the following press release with the revised ratings.

At 9:30 PM, THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in adults 25-54 (6.2/14), adults 18-49 (5.3/13), adults 18-34 (3.7/10) and second in both households (8.0/12) and viewers (13.27m). THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +7% in adults 25-54 (from 5.8/12), +13% in adults 18-49 (from 4.7/11), +23% in adults 18-34 (from 3.0/08) and added +310,000 viewers (from 12.96m, +2%) from last week's premiere.  

This was THE BIG BANG THEORY's best delivery in viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. This is the second straight broadcast THE BIG BANG THEORY posted series highs in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. THE BIG BANG THEORY built on its TWO AND A HALF MEN lead-in by +3% in adults 25-54, +10% in adults 18-49 and +23% in adults 18-34.

Episode 3.02 Ratings

The ratings for last night's episode are finally out. The Big Bang Theory managed to build on its record breaking performance of last week, setting all new records.

The show was watched by 13.02 million people, compared to 12.9m last week. It placed second this week in households, after a third place finish last week. In the adults 18-49 demographic, the show posted a 5.1/12 rating and came first. This was compared to a rating of 4.7/11 last week. Last week, of course, the show faced competition from an extended edition of Fox's House.

Two and a Half Men, which now precedes Big Bang, came second and first in the households and 18-49 metrics respectively. Men was seen by 13.63 million viewers and set a 4.7/11 rating in the 18-49 demo. How I Met Your Mother kicked off the night in third place with 8.73 million viewers, it achieved a 3.6/10 rating in the demo and came second. Accidentally On Purpose came third in both metrics with an audience of 8.07 million people and a 3.1/8 rating.

CBS has announced the details of Episode 3.04, The Pirate Solution, which will air October 12th.

The final ratings for last night's episode are out and have been revised upwards.

THE BIG BANG THEORY (P) (7.9/11, 12.96m) was second in adults 25-54 (5.8/12), adults 18-49 (4.7/11) and adults 18-34 (3.0/08). THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +39% in households (from 5.7/09), +38% in adults 25-54 (from 4.2/11), +31% in adults 18-49 (from 3.6/10), +20% in adults 18-34 (from 2.5/08) and added +3.62m viewers (from 9.34m, +39%) from its 8PM premiere last year.

This was THE BIG BANG THEORY’s best delivery in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. THE BIG BANG THEORY built on its TWO AND A HALF MEN lead-in by +2% in adults 25-54, +4% in adults 18-49 and +15% in adults 18-34.

CBS OPENS THE NEW SEASON WITH A BIG BANG "THE BIG BANG THEORY" PREMIERES WITH ITS LARGEST AUDIENCE EVER AND HIGHEST ADULT 18-49 RATING. "The Big Bang Theory" Builds on its Lead-In in Both Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.

CBS launched the new season with a big bang as the third season premiere of THE BIG BANG THEORY in its new time period delivered its largest audience ever, series high ratings in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 and built on its lead-in among key demos, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Monday, Sept. 21, the first night of the 2009-2010 television season.

THE BIG BANG THEORY (P) (7.8/11, 12.83m) was second in adults 25-54 (5.7/12), adults 18-49 (4.6/10) and tied for second in adults 18-34 (2.9/07). THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +37% in households (from 5.7/09), +36% in adults 25-54 (from 4.2/11), +28% in adults 18-49 (from 3.6/10), +16% in adults 18-34 (from 2.5/08) and added +3.49m viewers (from 9.34m, +37%) from its 8PM premiere last year.

This was THE BIG BANG THEORY's best delivery in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49, matched the best ever households delivery. THE BIG BANG THEORY built on its TWO AND A HALF MEN lead-in by +2% in adults 25-54, +5% in adults 18-49 and +12% in adults 18-34.
