CBS to renew 'Big Bang' for 2 seasons?

Variety is reporting rumours that CBS is to renew The Big Bang Theory for two additional seasons, taking it through to its fourth season in 2010/11.

Two and a Half Men is thought to be renewed for another 3 seasons, taking the show into its 9th season in 2011/2012.

Both shows were created by Chuck Lorre, who serves as executive producer on both. Warner Bros. Television produce the shows, making this a major deal for them.

Neither Warner Bros. nor CBS have commented on the deal.

CBS to air comedic interstitials

CBS will air comedic interstitials during their Monday night line-up on March 2nd & March 9th. Craig Ferguson will host the comedic spots that will lead into The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, The Rules of Engagement and CSI: Miami.

The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons will appear in five spots, in character as Sheldon, on March 9th.

Paris Hilton will join Craig Ferguson for five distinct spots on March 2nd, with the final spot relating to her appearance on Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show later that night.

The spots are set in Ferguson's faux home, where the guests will join him, separately, for TV dinners and a night of CBS's Monday shows.

CBS has announced Episode 2.17, "The Terminator Decoupling", which will air March 9th. Summer Glau ("Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles") guest stars. With a special cameo appearance by renowned astrophysicist Dr. George Smoot, whose work helped cement the big bang theory.

"The Terminator Decoupling" - A train trip to San Francisco takes a major detour when Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) discover that beautiful sci-fi actress Summer Glau ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") is onboard, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, March 9 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The episode also features a cameo by Nobel Laureate Dr. George Smoot.

Summer Glau is well known to television audiences for her roles in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and "Firefly." A sci-fi favorite, Glau is a two-time Saturn Award winner and a Teen Choice Award nominee.

Dr. George Smoot, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics, as well as the Einstein Medal, is one of the world's most renowned astrophysicists. His research helped cement the big bang theory of the universe.

"The Cushion Saturation" - A paintball game leads to a fight between Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons), and romance for Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Leslie (Sara Gilbert), on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, March 2 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Episode 2.15 Ratings Update

We have more information on the ratings of last night's episode. The special airing of The Big Bang Theory was watched by 13.10 million people, placing it first in viewers. It posted a 4.6/10 rating in the adults aged 18-49 demographic, also placing first. It retained 88% of Two and a Half Men's audience and a whopping 98% of Men's 18-49 audience.

Episode 2.15 Ratings

The ratings for last  night's episode are out. President Obama's Address meant The Big Bang Theory aired at the special time of 9:30, following Two and a Half Men.

The Big Bang Theory posted a 8.3/12 rating, a series high, and retained 87% of Two and a Half Men's audience, way above what Worst Week, The Rules of Engagement and The New Adventures of Old Christine have done in the same slot. The Big Bang Theory finished first in the slot.

Two and a Half Men posted a 9.5/14 rating, making it the top rated show of the night, also first in the slot.

Due to President Obama's Monday (Feb. 9th) night press conference at 8:00ET, The Big Bang Theory has been moved to 9:30, following Two and a Half Men. Updated: West Coast viewers will see a rerun at 8:00 and the new episode at 9:30, following an original Two and a Half Men at the usual time of 9:00.

The episode airing has not changed. "The Maternal Capacitance", with guest star Christine Baranski (TV's Cybill, Mammia Mia!) as Leonard's mother, is the scheduled episode.

Reruns will air for the following two weeks, at the usual time of 8/7c.
