HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and THE BIG BANG THEORY - each posted significant week-to-week gains in viewers and key demographics, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Monday, Oct. 22.
THE BIG BANG THEORY was second in households (5.6/08), viewers (8.72m), adults 25-54 (4.2/09) and adults 18-49 (3.5/09). THE BIG BANG THEORY built on its HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER lead-in by +2% in households, +5% in adults 25-54, +3% in adults 18-49 and added +120,000 viewers.
Compared to last week, THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +8% in households (from 5.2/08), +14% in adults 25-54 (from 3.7/09), +13% in adults 18-49 (from 3.1/08) and added +780,000 viewers (from 7.94m, +10%).
Episode 1.05 Ratings: Fast Affiliates October 23, 2007
More ratings out for last night's episode, the show was second in its timeslot in viewers and viewers aged 18-49, it was watched by 8.72 million people, built on How I Met Your Mother by .12 million viewers and .1 in the 18-49 rating point giving the show a 3.5/9.
Episode 1.05 Ratings: First Look October 23, 2007
We have the first look at ratings for last night's episode, based on 55 of the top markets in the US, the show got a 5.7/8 rating and was placed second in the slot.
This was quite a bit higher than How I Met Your Mother's 5.4/8.
Ratings are subject to change,we will have more information later in the day which will better reflect how the show fared.

CBS has released a press release confirming that The Big Bang Theory will be here for a full season of 22 episodes.
The press release: THE BIG BANG THEORY, a key newcomer to CBS's Monday comedy block, is averaging 8.97 million viewers, 4.3/10 in adults 25-54 and 3.6/09 in adults 18-49 in its Monday (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) time period. THE BIG BANG THEORY has built on its HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER lead-in by +8% in households, +10% in adults 25-54, +9% in adults 18-49 and +10% in viewers.

The Big Bang Theory has been picked up for a full season.
9 additional episodes have been ordered by CBS bringing the total to 22.

CBS has announced the details of Episode 1.06 "The Middle Earth Paradigm" which will air October 29th.
