HBO Max launch date announced Posted April 21, 2020
The launch date for HBO Max, which will be the U.S. streaming home of The Big Bang Theory, has been announced as Wednesday, May 27.
From launch, all 279 episodes of The Big Bang Theory's twelve-season run will be available to stream for the first time in the United States. HBO Max will also be the exclusive streaming home of Friends, which left Netflix this year. Other shows available at launch include The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The O.C., and Pretty Little Liars.
HBO Max will bring together motion pictures and television series from across the WarnerMedia library, including titles from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, TNT, TBS, and truTV. As the name suggests, HBO Max will be bundled with the HBO service including premium shows like Westworld, Big Little Lies, Succession, and Game of Thrones.
The motion picture library will include 700 blockbuster films from the HBO service within the first year, including Crazy Rich Asians, A Star is Born, Aquaman, and Joker. HBO Max will also feature movies from WarnerMedia's library, spanning over 100 years of the most iconic films, including Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, The Goonies, The Lord of the Rings, the Lego movies, and every DC film from the past decade.
A Max Original drama series, The Flight Attendant, starring and executive produced by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco will premiere on the service later this year. The series, which is from Berlanti Productions, is based on the novel by New York Times bestselling author Chris Bohjalian. HBO Max will also be releasing a highly-anticipated Friends unscripted cast reunion special at a later date.
The line-up of Max Original content available at launch includes Craftopia, Legendary, Love Life, new Looney Tunes Cartoons, The Not Too Late Show with Elmo, and On the Record.
The service will be priced at $14.99 a month, the same price as the current HBO Now service.
