Stuart Fails to Save the Universe heads to Comic-Con Posted 7 hours ago
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the upcoming The Big Bang Theory spin-off, is heading to San Diego Comic-Con ahead of its premiere later this month.
The Max Original comedy series will be featured during the convention with a panel in Hall H, a cast and creators signing session, and an off-site activation based on Stuart's comic book store, The Comic Center of Pasadena, which fans know from The Big Bang Theory.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe follows comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) after he accidentally breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, setting off a multiverse catastrophe. Stuart is joined on his quest to restore reality by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist Bert (Brian Posehn) and the always abrasive quantum physicist Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). Along the way, they encounter alternate-universe versions of familiar characters from The Big Bang Theory.
The Big Bang Theory had a long history at San Diego Comic-Con, first appearing at the convention in 2008 and returning throughout its run for panels featuring the writers, producers and, in some years, members of the cast. In 2012, the show's panel moved into the 6,000-seat Hall H for the first time. Comic-Con also featured in the show itself with storylines about the guys' attempts to get tickets for the event.
From Thursday, July 23 to Sunday, July 26, HBO Max will host a Stuart Fails to Save the Universe fan experience at Sparks Gallery, 530 Sixth Avenue in San Diego. The off-site activation will bring Stuart's The Comic Center of Pasadena to life, taking fans on a portal-hopping adventure through the new show's characters and multiverse. The experience will include interactive moments, photo opportunities with a replica machine from the show, exclusive merchandise, and a personalized collectible takeaway.
The off-site experience will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 23-25, and from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26.
At the convention itself, HBO Max will host a Stuart Fails to Save the Universe panel in Hall H of San Diego Convention Center from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 23. The panel will feature an exclusive advance screening of the show, followed by a discussion with creators Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn, and stars Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie. Felicia Day will moderate the panel.
Before the panel, the cast and creators will hold a signing session at the DC booth, #4544, from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres Thursday, July 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO Max. New episodes will be released each Thursday. The first season will have ten episodes.
