'The Locomotive Manipulation' Ratings

Last night's The Big Bang Theory episode finished a strong second place in the ratings for its time period, finishing behind NBC's coverage of The Olympics.

"The Locomotive Manipulation", which featured a big moment for Sheldon and Amy, had an audience of 17.53 million people. This was down by 1.52 million from last week's episode. NBC's Olympic coverage had 20.02 million viewers across its three hour broadcast.

In the key adults 18-49 demographic, The Big Bang Theory equaled its 5.2/15 rating even with tough competition from NBC, which itself scored a 6.0/17 rating.

The Big Bang Theory is in repeats for the next two weeks, owing partly to the extra competition from the Olympics, so the next episode will air Thursday, February 27.

Bob Newhart is to return to The Big Bang Theory later this season in his third guest appearance as Professor Proton, TVLine.com revealed today.

The legendary comic actor first appeared on the show last season. Newhart won the first Emmy award of his career for his guest role in the episode "The Proton Resurgence".

Yesterday's new episode of The Big Bang Theory finished first in the ratings for its time slot and ranked as the night's most-watched and highest-rated show, by far.

"The Convention Conundrum", with guest star James Earl Jones, had an audience of 19.05 million people. This episode was down from the previous episode's 20.35m audience, which broke show's record for the show's most-watched episode in its 8pm time back on January 9. In the important adults 18-49 demographic, The Big Bang Theory scored a dominant 5.2/15 rating, down five tenths from the previous episode's 5.7/17 rating.

The Big Bang Theory was the most-watched show on Thursday, bringing in over seven and a half million more viewers the closest competitor. TBBT was also the highest-rated show in the 18-49 demo with a lead of two whole points on American Idol's 3.2/9 rating.

Meanwhile, the girls see if they can act like "grown-ups," on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, Jan. 30 (8:00 – 8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher appear as themselves.

Last night's episode of The Big Bang Theory posted strong week-to-week gains to dominate its time slot and deliver the show's biggest audience ever in its 8pm time slot.

"The Occupation Recalibration" was watched by 20.35 million people, adding 1.15 million people over the previous episode. This is the show's largest audience in its regular 8/7c time slot and its best performance since 7.02 "The Deception Verification", which remains the show's most-watched episode, aired at the special time of 8:30 on September 26.

The Big Bang Theory delivered a 5.7/17 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, up from 5.4/16 last week. This was The Big Bang Theory's was also the show's best performance since episode 7.02. Yesterday's episode had more viewers and a stronger 18-49 rating in its time slot than the other four networks combined. The Big Bang Theory was by far the night's most-watched and highest-rated broadcast.
