The Big Bang Theory wins three People's Choice Awards January 7, 2016
The Big Bang Theory and its cast were the winners of three awards at the 42nd People's Choice Awards which aired live on CBS on Wednesday. The show and its star Jim Parsons both took home awards at the ceremony.
The Big Bang Theory won the "Favorite TV Show" award for the second time following the category's introduction last year. In the category, which spans multiple genres and formats, the show was up against network drama Grey's Anatomy, network reality show The Voice, and cable dramas Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.
The Big Bang Theory also won the "Favorite Network TV Comedy" award for the fourth consecutive year. This year marked the show's sixth consecutive nomination in the category. The other contenders for the award were 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Modern Family and New Girl.
Jim Parsons won the "Favorite Comedic TV Actor" award for the first time on his seventh consecutive nomination in the category. The other nominees were Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg, The Odd Couple's Matthew Perry, Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and The Big Bang Theory co-star Johnny Galecki.
The Big Bang Theory casts Sheldon's Meemaw January 7, 2016
The Big Bang Theory has finally cast one of the show's often mentioned but not yet seen characters, Sheldon's beloved grandmother or "Meemaw".
According to EW.com, actress June Squibb has been cast in the role and will be appearing in an upcoming episode of the show, set to air in February.
The Academy Award nominated actress has previously appeared in three of Chuck Lorre's shows: Mom, Mike & Molly, and Two and a Half Men.
