Kal Penn, Sean Astin to guest star January 2, 2019
Kal Penn (Designated Survivor, House) and Sean Astin (Stranger Things, The Lord of the Rings) will guest star in an upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory's final season, TVLine.com reported today.
According to TVLine, Penn and Astin will play a duo of physicists who accidentally confirm Sheldon and Amy's theory of super-asymmetry.
Sheldon and Amy first developed their theory of super-asymmetry at their wedding ceremony. After spending the first few months of their marriage working tirelessly on the concept, they were devastated when Leonard showed them a decades-old Russian paper which seemingly disproved their theory. A flash of inspiration from Sheldon's late father helped them look at their thesis in a new light and see an even bigger idea.
The Big Bang Theory's twelfth season returns this Thursday, January 3 with "The Paintball Scattering" at 8/7c on CBS.

Jim Parsons nominated for Critics' Choice Award December 10, 2018
The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons has been nominated in the Best Actor in a Comedy Series category at the 24th Annual Critics' Choice Awards. This is Parsons' fifth nomination for the award, which he won in 2011 and 2014.
The other nominees in the category are Hank Azaria (Brockmire), Ted Danson (The Good Place), Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method), Donald Glover (Atlanta), Bill Hader (Barry) and Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
The winners will be announced Sunday, January 13 at 7p.m. when the 24th Annual Critics' Choice Awards ceremony is broadcast live on The CW Network.

Young Sheldon stars head to The Big Bang Theory in time-bending cameo November 14, 2018
Two universes are set to collide as Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage, Lance Barber and Montana Jordan make cameo appearances in an upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory.
The actors, who play Sheldon, George Sr. and George Jr. on the spin-off show, will briefly appear in a December episode of The Big Bang Theory.
CBS is remaining tight-lipped about how the Young Sheldon characters, whose lives in early '90s East Texas are the subject of the show, will work into a story in the present-day The Big Bang Theory world.
This isn't the first time The Big Bang Theory has gazed into the Young Sheldon universe. Earlier this season, "The Tam Turbulence" revealed why Sheldon and his childhood friend, Tam, drifted apart. Last season, The Big Bang Theory introduced Jerry O'Connell as Sheldon's older brother, Georgie.
Before his role as the Cooper family patriarch on Young Sheldon, Lance Barber appeared in a Season 5 episode of The Big Bang Theory, "The Speckerman Recurrence", as Leonard's childhood bully.

Young Sheldon's second season heading to UK October 25, 2018
The second season of Young Sheldon, the Big Bang Theory prequel focusing on early life of Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas, will premiere in the UK next month.
British broadcaster E4 will begin showing the second season on Thursday, November 8 at 20:30. The Big Bang Theory's final season, which currently occupies the 20:30 slot, will move forward to 20:00.
In Young Sheldon's second season premiere, "A High-Pitched Buzz and Training Wheels", Sheldon gets a paper route after his attempt to dismantle the family's refrigerator lands his dad with an unexpected repair bill.
