The Big Bang Theory returns to the UK, joins Young Sheldon

The Big Bang Theory's eleventh season will return to British TV screens later this month and will be joined by Young Sheldon, which is getting its UK debut.

E4 will resume airing the current season of The Big Bang Theory from Thursday, February 22 at 8pm. The digital broadcaster aired the first eleven episodes of the season late last year. Following the mid-season break, the show continues with "The Matrimonial Metric" which sees Sheldon and Amy try to determine who is most qualified to be best man and maid of honor at their wedding.

Young Sheldon will air right after The Big Bang Theory on Thursday nights at 8:30pm from February 22nd. E4 picked up the rights to the spin-off last year after the highly-rated premiere of the show in the United States. Young Sheldon, a single-camera comedy from The Big Bang Theory's Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, stars Iain Armitage as nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas, where his impressive intelligence isn't always an advantage when he starts high school.

Young Sheldon also stars Zoe Perry, real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf who plays Sheldon's mother on The Big Bang Theory, as Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as George Sr., Montana Jordan as George Jr., Raegan Revord as Missy, and Annie Potts as Sheldon's beloved Meemaw. Jim Parsons, who also serves as executive producer with Todd Spiewak, narrates the show as adult Sheldon.

CBS renews Young Sheldon for a second season

CBS has renewed Young Sheldon, the Big Bang Theory spin-off which follows nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas, for a second season. This marks the network's first renewal for the 2018/19 season.

Young Sheldon is the most-watched new comedy on any network since the 1999-2000 TV season and is the number two comedy, behind only The Big Bang Theory. The show has averaged 16.17m viewers and a 3.3 rating in the demo to deliver the best retention out of The Big Bang Theory ever.

We can't wait to see Chuck, Steve, Jim and Todd's vision for how the Cooper family deals with Sheldon growing a year older... and smarter."
