CBS announces ninth season premiere

CBS has put out the press release for the ninth season premiere of The Big Bang Theory, "The Matrimonial Momentum", which airs Monday, September 21. Laurie Metcalf reprises her role as Sheldon's mother, Mary Cooper.

The Matrimonial Momentum – After driving to Vegas to get married, Penny struggles with Leonard’s confession that he kissed another girl. Also, Sheldon doesn’t know how to act after Amy pushes pause on their relationship, on the ninth season premiere of THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, Sept. 21 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.

The Big Bang Theory will again be starting the seasons on Monday nights as Thursday Night Football occupies its regular slot. The show will move back to Thursdays on November 5.

Laurie Metcalf and Keith Carradine will be guest starring in upcoming episodes of The Big Bang Theory, according to EW.com's Spoiler Room.

Laurie Metcalf, who plays Mary Cooper, last appeared in the penultimate episode of Season 8, "The Maternal Combustion". The actress, best known for her role as Jackie Harris on the long-running sitcom Roseanne, has so far appeared in seven episodes as Sheldon's devout Texan mother since the show's first season.

Keith Carradine is also set to reprise his role as Penny's father, Wyatt, in an upcoming Season 9 episode. The Nashville and Madam Secretary actor appeared in the fourth season episode "The Boyfriend Complexity", back when Leonard and Penny were broken up.

The Big Bang Theory wins Teen Choice Award

The Big Bang Theory won the Choice TV: Comedy Show award at last night's Teen Choice Awards. The cermony aired live on FOX with hosts Gina Rodriguez, Josh Peck and Ludacris.

This was the second consecutive year that The Big Bang Theory took home the award for best TV comedy. This year marked the show's fifth consecutive nomination for the award.

The Big Bang Theory stars Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting were nominated in the Choice TV Actor and Actress Comedy categories for the fifth year running, though they did not win the awards. Austin and Ally star Ross Lynch won the Choice TV Actor: Comedy award, while Glee's Lea Michele won the Choice TV Actress: Comedy award. Jim Parsons was the winner of the award back in 2013.

The Big Bang Theory Episode Tournament: Result

The final round of our The Big Bang Theory Episode Tournament has now closed and the results have been counted. We can now declare the winner was "The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis" with 60.04% of the vote in the final round.

"The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis" has now won seven of our episode tournaments. In the episode, Penny starts dating a handsome colleague of Leonard's, while Raj and Howard help Sheldon find a suitable Chrsitmas gift for Penny. In a memorable scene from the episode, Sheldon hugs Penny after she gives him a napkin signed by Leonard Nimoy.

"The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis" received 60.04% of the vote in the final round to beat "The Adhesive Duck Deficiency". The winning episode received a total of 799 votes throughout the tournament and had an overall vote share of 13.68%.

The Big Bang Theory casts Leonard's 'other woman'

Melissa Tang has landed a guest spot as Leonard's "other" woman on The Big Bang Theory, according to TVLine.com. The actress, who had a recurring role on the Chuck Lorre series Mom, will play Mandy, the woman Leonard admitted kissing during his North Sea Expedition two years ago.

Leonard revealed his indiscretion to Penny during the Season 8 finale, "The Commitment Determination", as he and Penny headed to Vegas to get married.

TVLine reports that the actress will appear in the second episode of the season, which is set to be taped next week. The Big Bang Theory's season premiere, which is set to air Monday, September 21, was recorded earlier this week.

At its Television Critics Association press stop today, CBS gave a glimpse of what's coming up on the season premieres of their shows, including The Big Bang Theory.

COMING UP: Brilliant Sheldon is confronted by a mystery of the universe he cannot unravel: when a woman wants time apart to think, exactly how much time does that mean, and is there any way to hurry the process along? In Las Vegas, Penny and Leonard march closer to marching down the aisle, but has Penny gotten over Leonard’s infidelity? And if so, will he do anything to un-get her over it?

The Big Bang Theory returns for its ninth season on Monday, September 21 at 8/7c on CBS. As it did last year, The Big Bang Theory will start the season on Mondays at 8/7c to make room for Thursday Night Football. The show will jump back to its regular time period on Thursday, November 5.

We are running an episode tournament to find people's favorite episode of The Big Bang Theory. The third knock-out round has now closed and two episodes made it through to the final round.

In the previous round, The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis defeated The Thanksgiving Decoupling with 68% of the vote. The Adhesive Duck Deficiency was the winner against The Panty Pinata Polarization with a 65% share.

The final round between The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis and The Adhesive Duck Deficiency is open now. Voting will close and the winner will be announced next Friday, August 14.

The Big Bang Theory LEGO set released August 1, 2015

The Big Bang Theory LEGO set released

LEGO has today released an officially licensed The Big Bang Theory set based on Leonard and Sheldon's living room. The 484 piece set includes seven mini-figures of the main characters: Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy and Bernadette. The detailed apartment set also features a whiteboard, DNA helix model, a telescope, and a variety of ornaments from the guys' living room.

The set was created by two LEGO fan designers, Ellen Kooijman from Sweden and Glen Bricker from the USA, who submitted their design to the LEGO IDEAs website. After 10,000 people supported the project, it was put before LEGO's Review Board last year. In November 2014, LEGO announced The Big Bang Theory set would become a reality.

In the previous round, The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis was the winner against The Zazzy Substitution with 78% of the vote, The Adhesive Duck Deficiency beat The Barbarian Sublimation with a 78.5% share, The 43 Peculiarity defeated The Commitment Determination with 58.9% of votes, The Scavenger Vortex won against The Pancake Batter Anomaly with 64.6% of the vote, The Prom Equivalency defeated The Love Spell Potential with 58.4% of votes, The Staircase Implementation was the winner against The Locomotive Manipulation by a narrow margin with 51% of the vote, The Thanksgiving Decoupling won against The Luminous Fish Effect with a narrowly ahead 52% share, and, finally, The Panty Pinata Polarization beat The Justice League Combination with 63.2% of votes.
